Tom DeLonge has released a statement about his friend and former Blink-182 bandmate Mark Hoppus being diagnosed with cancer. He wrote, “I too, have been aware of @markhoppus’s cancer diagnosis for awhile now. And to add to his own words that he used today, I would also like to say that he is strong, and a super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart. 👊🏼#WeHaveHisBack.”
Travis Barker wrote, “Mark is my brother and I love and support him. I will be with him every step of the way onstage and off, and can’t wait for us to play together again soon.”
He also shared a photo with Mark on his Instagram story, writing: “Love you @markhoppus.”
Matt Skiba has not released a statement. A fan wrote on Reddit, “I love this band. I have since I was 12 when Enema came out. They have brought so much joy to my life. I share my love of this band and the music they make with my children. My joy doubles when my daughter sings and dances like a maniac with me. My life wouldn’t be the same without Blink.
Blink-182 is Single-handedly responsible for the fact that I have a wife and children. Literally without them, I don’t have my family. I met my wife when I was 15 while I was playing in a crappy punk rock band that formed over our love for blink. Before we made our own music we covered blink songs. My wife’s brother was our drummer. That’s how I met my wife.
I’m ranting a bit because one of the men who is responsible for so much greatness in my life is sick and it really feels like a family member is suffering and I can’t help. I’m devastated and sad for Mark. Anyways, Mark, if you ever read this, I love you, thank you, and get well soon. I will be praying for you.”
