System of a Down have certainly made some of its critics and haters during their illustrious career. It has come to light that former Oasis member Noel Gallagher is one of them. According to Gallagher, System is of the worst bands that he’s ever heard.
Noel Gallagher opens up on System of a Down
As Far Out Magazine recently revealed that Noel bashed the band in the early 2000’s to radio station KROQ. When speaking about the state of music today, Noel had said:
“Do you ever look at the sky and think, I’m glad I’m alive? After I heard System of a Down, I thought, I’m actually alive to hear the shittiest band of all time. Which is quite something when you think about it. Of all the bands that have gone before and all the bands that’ll be in the future, I was around when the worst was around.”
Then again, this type of sentiment is nothing new for the likes of Noel Gallagher. Even though Lars Ulrich of Metallica is very vocally one of the biggest Oasis fans in the world, Noel has always not had that many kind words for heavy metal, saying that all they sing about is turmoil all the time and insinuating that all heavy metal bands do is try to harm themselves day in and day out.
Specifically, Gallagher said: “Heavy metal. F***ing hell. Goth music. There’s a reason why they slit their wrists, really. All that fucking nihilism, I don’t listen to that.”
While Noel and his brother Liam have famously disagreed with each other now for decades, the two brothers seem to have one thing in common- they both seem to loathe nu-metal bands.
