Fashion designer Misa Hylton, the mother of Justin Combs, attended the trial of her ex, Sean “Diddy” Combs, on May 12 and 13. Though she needed a walker to move around due to an injury, she was there to support her son.
On May 18, Hylton explained on Instagram why she decided to attend.
“Yes, I’m okay. I’m healing,” she wrote. “When I got injured, I planned to recover privately. But when my son said, ‘Mommy, I need you,’ I showed up, walker and all. I’m a mother first.”
She also had a message for critics: “I’m not worried about insecure people. Life isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it’s hard and raw. Let’s be real again.”
Hylton encouraged others going through medical recovery to use whatever tools they need—including walkers—without shame. She also referenced rapper Tupac Shakur, joking that she had to hold herself back from walking out of court like Tupac famously did in 1994. Hylton was present for the start of Diddy’s trial, where he faces serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. He has pleaded not guilty to all accusations.
Other family members at the trial included Diddy’s mother Janice, sons Quincy and Christian, his twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie, and daughter Chance.
During graphic testimony from male escort Daniel Phillip, who described being paid to have sex with Cassie Ventura while Diddy allegedly watched, Diddy’s three daughters reportedly left the courtroom.
