Fans are begging The Verve to reunite as they announced “Bitter Sweet Symphony” is being released on Vinyl for the first time.
On Instagram, the band announced, “For the first time ever, one of the most beloved British songs of all time, ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ is being reissued as a limited-edition translucent green 7” vinyl. This exclusive pressing features the original artwork and includes the Ashcroft-penned B-side ‘So Sister’. Out December 5th and available to pre-order now.”
The announcement continued, adding: “Plus, fans who pre-order Bitter Sweet Symphony (7”) from the official online store before 23:59 GMT on 4 December 2025, will be entered for a chance to win a poster print signed by Richard, Nick, Simon & Peter!”
Many fans in the comment section of the post admitted that they thought the post – which featured video clips of The Verve performing live, was a reunion announcement and were disappointed it was only announcing a vinyl reissue.
With the success of Oasis’ recent reunion, many Verve fans in the comments are calling on the band to follow in the Gallaghers’ footsteps and get back together.
The Verve broke up twice before their final split in 1999.
After the success of their debut album A Storm in Heaven and the pressures of constant touring, tensions between frontman Richard Ashcroft and guitarist Nick McCabe reached a breaking point. Ashcroft, exhausted and frustrated, decided to dissolve the band in 1995, saying he “couldn’t go on.” The breakup was short-lived as they reunited a few months later to record A Northern Soul, but the underlying conflicts remained.
Following the massive global success of Urban Hymns in 1997 and its hit single “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” internal issues resurfaced. McCabe briefly left during the album’s touring cycle, and relations between band members, particularly between Ashcroft and McCabe, deteriorated again. By 1999, The Verve officially split for the second time, citing personal and creative tensions. They would later reunite once more in 2007 and quietly dissolve again by 2009.
