Taylor Swift has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at her Eras Tour in a six-part docuseries on Disney+, which may mark the final chapter of this era. In the series, she talks openly about how intense the tour has been physically and claims that she runs “about eight miles” during each show.
“I never worked out this much in my life.”
That statement caught the attention of runners, who quickly tried to figure out if it was realistic. Canadian Running looked at the numbers and said it is possible, but not very likely. Swift is constantly moving during her concerts, walking, dancing, and running for more than three hours, but covering a full eight miles may be an exaggeration.
The stage is about the length of a football field. To reach eight miles, Swift would need to run from one end to the other more than 100 times during a single show, which would mean doing several full sprints per song. Canadian Running believes she likely runs closer to five or six miles instead—still impressive, especially while performing in heeled boots.
Swift also said she trained harder for this tour than anything she had done before. Behind-the-scenes footage shows her strength training and running in Hokas. Earlier, Runner’s World estimated that her treadmill workouts could total around 16 miles when matched to the full setlist.
Whether it’s five miles or eight, there’s no question Swift was in top physical shape throughout the Eras Tour.
