Taylor Swift shared that her father, Scott Swift, came out of quintuple bypass surgery in great spirits, even delivering a 15-minute comedy routine from his hospital bed. She gave the update during her appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce.
Scott discovered he had five heart blockages after a resting stress test, and doctors scheduled surgery for the next day. Taylor, her mother, and her brother rushed to be with him, despite Scott insisting it wasn’t necessary. The family took turns in the ICU while he was in surgery. When he woke up, he joked that having five blockages made sense because he came from a competitive family.
Taylor moved in with her dad this summer to help him recover, assembling his shower chair and walker, a reversal of their earlier years when he built her toys and swing sets. Travis mentioned that Scott was full of energy when they recently spent time together, and Jason noted that he seemed completely himself during a FaceTime call.
Taylor also revealed her mom recently had knee replacement surgery, calling this the summer of “parental upgrades.”
