Suge Knight, founder of Death Row Records, recently shared his opinion on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering trial. Speaking on NewsNation’s Cuomo on May 27, Knight—who had a long history of rivalry with Diddy during the ‘90s East Coast vs. West Coast rap feud—said he believes Diddy should not be found guilty.
Although Knight clarified he’s not friends with Diddy, he argued that Diddy is being unfairly singled out. According to Knight, other executives involved with Bad Boy Records should also be held accountable, not just Diddy. He said it’s “a sad day for hip-hop” if Diddy is the only one facing serious consequences.
When asked about Diddy’s former assistant Capricorn Clark—who testified that Diddy kidnapped her—Knight claimed that another Bad Boy figure, Reggie Wright Jr., forced Clark to have sex with multiple people. He questioned why others connected to the allegations aren’t on trial.
Knight stressed that even though he and Diddy aren’t allies, he believes in fairness and that Diddy shouldn’t be punished alone. “What’s right is right, and wrong is wrong,” Knight said.
He also suggested that if Diddy is convicted, former President Donald Trump would likely pardon him. Knight doesn’t think Diddy is worried and believes someone will persuade jurors to keep him out of prison.
Diddy’s trial has now entered its 10th day and is expected to continue through July. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
