Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s life in Montecito has gotten mixed reactions from their neighbors, according to a new report.
Some people in the area see Harry as friendly and easy to talk to, while Meghan is viewed as more distant and rarely seen in public. Though Meghan has shared a few moments from her everyday life, like fitness classes and school events, some locals say she mostly keeps to herself.
Journalist Richard Mineards, who knows the community well, said Meghan doesn’t engage much with the area and compared her to Oprah Winfrey, who often attends local events. He described Meghan as very private and careful with her public image.
On the other hand, Harry is said to be more relaxed and approachable. He’s been seen around town at the beach, coffee shops, or biking and often stops to chat with locals. One neighbor said Harry still comes off as “good-natured” even though the couple stays low-key.
While some neighbors feel Meghan is withdrawn compared to Harry, not everyone sees it negatively. Actress Sharon Stone defended the couple, calling them kind and generous community members. She shared a story about them waving at a friend while biking, saying they’ve made an effort to fit in and contribute to the neighborhood.
