Sexyy Red is opening up about her surprising collaboration with Justin Bieber on their new track Sweet Spot, and she had nothing but praise for the pop star. Speaking on the red carpet at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, she gave fans a glimpse into their studio session, describing it as wild and fun.
“It was fun. He’s crazy, just like me,” she laughed, adding, “We was getting fried. We were smoking together. That’s my friend.”
The rapper also shared how much she’s grown to admire Bieber, calling him “genuine and misunderstood,” and saying, “He’s misunderstood and I love that about him.”
When asked what the public gets wrong about him, she quickly defended the Canadian singer: “He’s cool, he’s a family guy. He be with his wife. She be right there with him, supporting him.”
According to OK! Magazine, Sexyy Red also shut down online rumors that Justin and Hailey Bieber were having issues. “They’re misunderstood,” she said again. “But they’re together.”
Their collaboration had already created hype after a viral video from Sexyy Red’s birthday party showed Bieber hugging her, kissing her on the cheek, and smiling as they danced together. At one point, she even twerked beside him, setting social media on fire.
