Sam Smith has been one of the United Kingdom’s most prolific modern singer songwriter’s for quite some time now. The artist would release their debut album back in February of 2013. That album, entitled Lay Me Down would spawn a slew of several successful singles including ‘Lay Me Down’, ‘Stay With Me’, ‘Money On My Mind’, I’m Not The Only One’, and countless others. It became just the second artist album in the UK to sell over 1 million copies a month after Ed Sheeran reached that plateau with his album x. Smith also became the only artist to sell 1 million copies of an album in both the UK and the US in 2014.

The Lonely Hour became the second best-selling album of 2014 in the UK with 1,248,000 sold for the year. On September 4th, 2015, the album broke the record for most consecutive weeks in the UK top ten for a debut release, which currently stands at sixty-seven. On December 29th, 2017, it was certified 8 times Platinum. As of December 2015, In the Lonely Hour has sold 2,140,000 copies in total in the UK, including 893,000 units sold in 2015
Recently, Smith took to social media via Instagram to showcase a very lighthearted and provocative photo of themself dancing in some very tight, bootylicious denim shorts. The full video can be seen below.

On Smith’s Instagram, fans would respond to the playful video as well with one fan responding: “Always happy seeing you getting even more freer all the time” while one fan gave their review of the aforementioned album by Sam Smith by stating their thoughts on ‘Lay Me Down’. That fan would say the following in regards to the impactful debut: “I love this album. There is something about the music and lyrics combined with their voice that reminds me of singers from the thirties and forties. It’s a little nostalgic perhaps, but entirely enjoyable – and with a certain quiet quality that I really like.”
