Sam Asghari Calls for Privacy After Spears DUI
Sam Asghari has spoken publicly after Britney Spears’ recent DUI arrest in California, urging people to remember that “people make mistakes” and calling for privacy as the singer faces a court date.
In his comments on the case, Page Six reported that Mr Asghari made the remarks during a Fox News interview, saying he hoped the press had “learned from the past” and would give Spears “the privacy that she needs”.
Mr Asghari, 32, and Spears married in June 2022 and separated 14 months later before divorcing in May 2024, according to the report. He also said he will “always have love for her”, echoing earlier remarks about their relationship in which he described their marriage as “very real”.
Spears, 44, was arrested after being spotted swerving her BMW in and out of traffic, and was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County at about 9.28pm local time before being booked in the early hours, the report said. The same report quoted her manager, Mr Cade Hudson, calling the incident “completely inexcusable” and saying she would “take the right steps and comply with the law”, as she is due in court on May 4.
The arrest has prompted further reaction from Spears’ past relationships, with Jason Alexander—briefly married to the singer in 2004—posting that people should “slow down” on judgement and “let the facts come out”. The case now moves toward Spears’ scheduled court appearance, with attention on what authorities determine from the blood draw taken after her arrest.
