RINGO STARR recently discussed the truth about his addiction, as seen in a new video.
says that his new song “Thankful”, off of his recent album “Look Up”, is a reflection on his life with The Beatles, his struggle with substance abuse, his journey to getting sober, and his wife.
The track features the very personal lyric: “I had it all, then I started to fall.”
As Starr explains in a new interview with The Times:
“There is a nod to the past, because I’m thankful for [my wife] Barbara being in my life…
“I’m thankful that my life has changed. [I was] at the top of the mountain, and gradually it worked its way down. And then I looked up and life came back. I truly believe in looking up. You’re always in a better mood if you’re looking up. It’s one of those things you notice, walking around London, or it doesn’t matter where. They’re all looking down. There’s nothing down there.”
