Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro recently criticized major celebrities like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez, claiming they act much younger than their real age to stay popular. He argued that stars in their 30s, 40s, and 50s are pretending to be teenagers to keep attention from younger fans.
Shapiro first called out Taylor Swift, saying she still presents herself in her music as a heartbroken teen, even though she’s now 35. He mentioned her massive Eras Tour as proof of her ongoing success, but believes her image is outdated.
He didn’t stop there. Shapiro also criticized Katy Perry, 40, saying her recent performances make her look foolish. Jennifer Lopez, 55, drew even more criticism after her bold performance at the American Music Awards, where she shared a group kiss with backup dancers, a move that reminded many of Madonna’s famous past stunts.
Shapiro claimed this behavior is part of a larger cultural issue, where aging entertainers try too hard to look and act like they’re still in their 20s. He said that middle-aged people should embrace their age instead of chasing youth for attention.
He also took aim at comedian Theo Von, 45, accusing him of dressing and acting younger than he is. Shapiro argued this trend shows a lack of class and maturity in today’s society.
However, many online didn’t agree. Critics accused Shapiro of jealousy and being overly focused on others’ lifestyles. One commenter pointed out that Swift’s global fame and fanbase far outweigh Shapiro’s podcast reach.
Despite the backlash, Shapiro remains a highly followed figure in politics and media. His podcast has a 4.4-star rating on Apple and was once ranked second in the U.S. by Podtrac.
