Report: William and Charles Split on Andrew Role
Prince William and King Charles have been drawn into renewed claims of a private disagreement over how the Royal Family should handle Prince Andrew, with reports suggesting the Prince of Wales wants a firmer approach to the Duke of York’s status.
The report said King Charles has resisted calls to remove his younger brother from the line of succession, while Prince William believes Andrew should be cut out of royal life completely, and Mandatory reported the claims were attributed to Radar Online and described by an unnamed palace source.
According to the account, tensions have been heightened by William’s view that earlier inaction will ultimately leave him to deal with the issue when he becomes king, with one insider quoted as saying the situation “horrifies him” and that Andrew’s “intimidation or threats of retaliation” should not influence decisions.
The article also alleged that arguments have erupted at the palace, with another unnamed insider claiming William was promised more responsibility and influence but feels “frozen out”, while a separate quote said Charles is “aghast” at the idea his son would push him on the matter.
The discussion comes as scrutiny of Andrew has remained a persistent reputational issue for the monarchy, following earlier Britpop News reporting on King Charles being criticised over decisions involving Prince Andrew and other family controversies.
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the claims, and no evidence was provided in the report beyond anonymous sources, but the latest allegations underline how questions about Andrew’s role continue to surface alongside wider debates about the Royal Family’s future direction.
