Report: Andrew Items Burned at Royal Lodge
A reported clearance operation at Royal Lodge has sparked fresh scrutiny around Prince Andrew’s post-royal arrangements, with claims that aides were instructed to remove all personal traces linked to the Duke of York and his former household. The allegations suggest unwanted items were destroyed on the Windsor estate grounds as part of a wider effort to separate the property from Andrew’s time there.
The Economic Times reported that sources cited by the Mirror claimed royal aides were told to ensure “nothing linked to Andrew or his household should be left behind”, and that discarded items including furniture said to belong to former staff were seen being burned on the estate.
The report said the clear-out included remaining rooms and former staff quarters, with an instruction that belongings be removed by the weekend. It added that palace sources quoted in the coverage said the items being destroyed were not Crown Estate property but belonged to Andrew’s former staff.
The alleged move follows continuing debate about the Duke’s place in the wider Royal Family, with Britpop News previously reporting on public reaction when King Charles was heckled in Cornwall over references to Andrew during an engagement.
The Economic Times article also recapped that Andrew stepped back from public duties amid controversy tied to Jeffrey Epstein and a civil case brought by Ms Virginia Giuffre, which was settled in 2022 without an admission of liability. Buckingham Palace has not commented on the latest claims about Royal Lodge.
