Brian May says Queen unlikely to tour the US again, calling it ‘dangerous’ right now
Brian May has suggested Queen are unlikely to return to the United States in the near future, saying the band must factor in safety concerns when considering future touring plans. The 78-year-old guitarist, who performs alongside drummer Roger Taylor with singer Adam Lambert as Queen + Adam Lambert, made the remarks in a new interview as the group’s live schedule remains uncertain.
Discussing the prospect of US dates, May said “America is a dangerous place at the moment” and claimed “everyone is thinking twice about going there at the moment,” according to Daily Mail.
May did not specify what he believes is unsafe about the US, but he added that Queen “grew up in America” and that the band still loves the country, while suggesting it is “not what it was.” He also said he does not know when Queen will next be back on stage, describing their return to live performance as “an unknown” and saying they are taking it “day by day.”
The comments come as May continues to manage his health following a minor stroke in 2024, an episode he has previously said temporarily affected the use of his left arm; in recent coverage, he spoke about feeling afraid after the stroke as he worked towards playing again.
May also hinted that new Queen material could still emerge, telling the Daily Mail that “there are a couple of things you haven’t heard,” while stressing “never say never” about returning. For now, his latest remarks point to a cautious approach on touring decisions, with the band weighing practical risks against long-standing ties to US audiences.
