Prince Harry’s legal victory in the battle to get his U.K.-funded police protection reinstated could clear a path for him and wife Meghan Markle to make a comeback to England and the royal fold. However, there are a few key figures that are still standing in their way.
Examiner has reported that Princess Anne has been pulling strings behind the scenes at Windsor Castle and has been helping Prince William and Queen Camilla block any path back for the Sussexes and urging King Charles III to ban the Suits actress from crossing the threshold.
“Anne doesn’t tend to interfere or get involved with family politics all that often,” reveals an insider, “so when she does speak up and offer her opinion, it counts for a lot.”
The Princess Royal has not always seen eye-to-eye with William and the insider noted when it comes to Meghan, she agrees with her nephew’s take. “[Anne] says it’s madness that Charles would countenance any type of reconciliation or forgiveness,” adds the insider, “let alone allow this upstart anywhere near them.”
William has urged his father to cut ties with Harry and Meghan, with a source of the outlet claiming that the future king feels the Sussexes are “shamelessly taking advantage” of his 77-year-old father’s goodwill. He isn’t the only one.
“If Meghan does decide to come back to the U.K. and finds herself in the same room with [Anne or Camilla, 78], she’ll get extremely short shrift,” shares the insider, “which is just about the most fearsome combination imaginable!”
