Prince William and Princess Kate voice “deep concern” over Epstein files
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, have issued a rare public response to the continuing revelations emerging from the so-called Epstein files, with Kensington Palace saying the couple are “deeply concerned” and focused on victims. The statement came on Sunday as the Prince of Wales prepared to begin his first official visit to Saudi Arabia, a trip framed as a major diplomatic engagement for the UK.
In a statement to travelling media, Hello Magazine reported that a Kensington Palace spokesman confirmed the Prince and Princess were “deeply concerned” by the “continuing revelations” and that “their thoughts remain focused on the victims”.
The comments mark the couple’s first public intervention since renewed scrutiny of Prince Andrew, the King’s brother, and his past links to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The latest allegations cited in the report include claims that Epstein sent a second woman to the UK for a sexual encounter with Andrew and that Andrew shared sensitive information from his former role as UK trade envoy with Epstein, allegations the Duke has previously denied.
William’s statement also lands as he embarks on what officials have described as a demanding overseas programme, with the three-day itinerary set to include meetings in Riyadh and visits focused on culture, sport and conservation. The trip follows recent reporting that Princess Kate is not joining the Prince of Wales for the Saudi visit, leaving William to carry out the engagements solo.
Palace aides have stressed the couple’s attention remains on those affected as further details continue to emerge, while William’s visit is expected to proceed as planned with a series of high-profile meetings across the kingdom in the coming days.
