Prince William’s Candid Confession Might Have Saved the Monarchy

Prince William has spoken candidly about the strain his former work as an air ambulance pilot placed on his mental health, describing how difficult he found the aftermath of attending traumatic incidents. The Prince of Wales made the comments during a pre-recorded discussion focused on men’s mental health, a subject he has frequently promoted through his public work.

In an opinion piece, Daily Express reported that Prince William told a Radio 1 Life Hacks panel he had struggled during and after his time flying for the East Anglian Air Ambulance between 2015 and 2017, and that he experienced “bad days” and periods of feeling low once he left the role.

The article says the episode was recorded with host Mr Greg James, musician Mr Professor Green and representatives from a mental health charity, with the conversation aimed at encouraging people to speak more openly about seeking support. It adds that the Prince’s remarks moved beyond general messages and instead focused on his own experience of checking in on his wellbeing and acknowledging when he was not feeling his best.

The comments come as Prince William continues to be closely involved in wider royal duties, including recent public support for the King during a turbulent period for the family, with the Prince and Princess of Wales backing King Charles after the Andrew arrest statement in BritpopNews coverage.

By speaking about the impact of his previous frontline role, the Prince has again placed mental health in the spotlight and underscored the message that even those in high-profile public positions can face difficult moments, while encouraging others to seek help when they need it.
