Prince William’s reported “zero tolerance” approach to royal ties connected to Jeffrey Epstein is under renewed scrutiny after newly released records included emails involving Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. The correspondence has prompted renewed comment from royal watchers about how the Royal Family manages reputational risk linked to Epstein.
Fox News reported that an email dated March 2010 shows Ms Ferguson replying to Epstein about a potential New York trip and making a crude remark about her then-19-year-old daughter Princess Eugenie, with the message included in a batch of documents released by the US Department of Justice.
Royal commentator Ms Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital the disclosure “seals the end” of any prospect of “royal acceptance” for either Ms Ferguson or Prince Andrew, claiming Prince William is “beyond disgusted” by any renewed association with Epstein. The report also cites another email thread from 2009 in which Ms Ferguson allegedly discussed a lunch in Miami and mentioned attending with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
The documents have resurfaced as the monarchy continues to face pressure over Prince Andrew’s long-running links to the disgraced financier, including in Britpop News reporting on how photos reignited calls for Prince William and King Charles to distance the institution from the Duke of York’s controversies.
While the inclusion of names in the wider file release does not, in itself, imply wrongdoing, the renewed focus on the Duchess of York’s past correspondence is likely to intensify questions about access, judgement and the Royal Family’s broader efforts to draw a clear line under any Epstein-related associations.
