Prince Harry and King Charles’ teams recently had a private meeting to help fix their broken relationship. But royal experts say one person was noticeably missing from the talks: Prince William. Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that Prince William and his team were not invited. He believes this was King Charles’ way of showing that he is in charge and will make decisions during his reign.
The meeting reportedly took place at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private club near Clarence House in London. Meredith Maines, who works for Prince Harry, traveled from California to attend. She was joined by Liam Maguire, who handles U.K. media for Harry and Meghan. They met with the king’s communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae.
Sources say this was the first step in bringing Harry and King Charles closer again. A source told the Mail on Sunday that “everyone just wants to move on,” and it was finally the right time to talk.
Even though Prince William likely knew about the meeting, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said he chose not to get involved. William and Harry are still not speaking to each other. Fitzwilliams also said that King Charles wants to have a relationship with his grandchildren, who he has barely seen. But William does not trust Harry and Meghan, and many royal supporters would not be happy to see them return to royal events.
Helena Chard, a royal photographer and broadcaster, said healing the father-son relationship could be a good thing, especially since King Charles is still receiving cancer treatment. She believes King Charles will always love his son and hopes this step will help clean up the tension in the family.
