Prince William ‘reached out’ to Prince Andrew after titles were stripped, report claims
Prince William reportedly contacted Prince Andrew to offer condolences after King Charles removed the Duke of York’s royal titles, according to a new biography of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The claim, published on Thursday, suggests the Prince of Wales was among the few relatives to make direct contact following the move, despite longstanding tensions between the pair.
AOL reported that author Mr Robert Hammond’s biography alleges Prince William called his uncle after the titles were stripped in October 2025, and that Prince Andrew was “very touched” because William was “one of the few people” who reached out.
The report says King Charles took the step amid renewed scrutiny over Prince Andrew’s links to the late financier Mr Jeffrey Epstein, with the book claiming the controversy intensified following the publication of a posthumous memoir by Ms Virginia Giuffre. The same account states that Prince Andrew was arrested on 19 February and detained for 11 hours on suspicion of misconduct in public office, linked to allegations he shared inappropriate information with Epstein during his tenure as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.
The alleged phone call sits alongside previous reporting about Prince William’s stance on royal controversies, including suggestions that he has backed a tougher approach to safeguarding the monarchy’s future as he prepares for eventual succession.
Neither Kensington Palace nor Buckingham Palace has publicly commented on the biography’s claims. However, the account underscores the complex family dynamics around Prince Andrew’s status, and the degree to which decisions taken now are viewed through the lens of the monarchy’s long-term reputation.
