Prince William and Catherine ‘extremely concerned’ for King amid Andrew fallout
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales are said to be worried the fallout from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest could add pressure to King Charles as he continues cancer treatment. The concern was highlighted after the Prince of Wales attended the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards in London, where he spoke briefly about his state of mind while on the red carpet.
Fox News reported that Prince William told the Daily Mail he “needed to be in quite a calm state” to watch the film “Hamnet” but added: “I am not at the moment. I will save it,” in remarks made during the couple’s first public appearance since the arrest.
In the same piece, royal commentator Mr Richard Fitzwilliams said there was “no doubt” pressures on the King were “intense”, adding that William and Catherine were “extremely concerned” about how the crisis was developing and its effect on the monarch’s health. Another royal commentator, Mr Ian Pelham Turner, described the comment as indicative of the stress inside the Royal Family as it tries to continue public duties.
The latest claims come as the Palace manages the continuing scrutiny around Andrew, with previous Britpop News reporting that King Charles is facing a serious crisis as attention on the case intensifies and as public debate grows over how the situation is being handled.
King Charles has previously said the law “must take its course” regarding the investigation, while insisting he and his family will continue their duty and service. Further public engagements for senior royals are expected to continue in the coming days.
