Princess Kate is reportedly struggling with the idea of sending Prince George to boarding school, and royal insiders are worried the emotional toll could be too much for her as she continues recovering from cancer.
Prince William is said to be pushing for their 12-year-old son to attend Eton College, his own alma mater, with plans for George to start in September 2026. Sources say Kate is deeply upset by the idea of being separated from her firstborn and is anxious about the limited time she’ll have with him at home.
After revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier in 2024, Kate has been undergoing treatment and is now in remission. But those close to the royal family believe she’s still feeling the effects of the intense medical journey. They worry that the stress of George going off to school could negatively impact her physical and emotional health.
One insider noted that Kate treasures family time, especially after such a difficult few years. Losing daily contact with George might lead to guilt and increased anxiety, especially as she won’t be able to directly look after him while he’s away.
There are also concerns about George’s safety and privacy, particularly in today’s world of constant social media exposure. Kate reportedly finds it hard to imagine not being there to protect him.
Adding to her worries, it’s expected that Princess Charlotte, age 10, could also start boarding school two years after George, and their youngest son, Prince Louis, may eventually follow. Insiders fear that being apart from all three children could be emotionally overwhelming for Kate during a time when she needs peace and support the most.
