The Royal Family may have looked happy during their Christmas Day walk, but things were tense behind the scenes. Reports say Prince William and King Charles were not getting along because of a disagreement about who should take part in the walk.
Prince William reportedly did not want his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, to join the rest of the family. He was worried their presence could bring back bad attention because of the scandals linked to their father, Prince Andrew. William felt the timing was wrong and thought it could hurt the royal family and the sisters.
“William said it was a disaster waiting to happen,” a source said. “He argued the timing was toxic and that it would hurt everyone involved – especially the sisters.”
King Charles disagreed and decided to invite them anyway. Sources say he does not like being told what to do and wanted to make the final decision himself, even though William objected.
This caused tension between father and son during the holidays. One insider said Charles has more issues with William than with Prince Harry, since Harry left royal life, while William stayed and questions decisions.
Some believe Beatrice and Eugenie being there did not protect them but instead put them in the spotlight. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were not present, as they were reportedly not invited after losing their royal roles and residence.
