Prince William is starting to modernize the British royal family by ending the old “no selfies” rule. His late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, had banned selfies, and King Charles kept the rule too, but William is now allowing them.
On his recent two-day trip to Estonia, William happily took selfies with fans. He smiled, took people’s phones, and snapped pictures himself. Royal expert Emily Ferguson said William is now much more relaxed and friendly with the public than before.
In the past, William greeted fans but wasn’t very enthusiastic. Now he spends more time with them and enjoys taking photos.
William is also changing how royal trips are done. Instead of long visits, he wants shorter trips that focus on important causes. For example, he visited Estonia for less than two days, joined soldiers in the field, and then went home.
William has also made communication easier. Instead of using landlines like King Charles, William gave staff his cell phone number and told them to message him if needed. He often uses WhatsApp to stay in touch and expects quick updates.
William wants action, not endless meetings. He focuses on real projects that make a difference. William Hague, who works closely with him, said William always looks for results and pushes for real change.
