Prince William reportedly breaks royal silence on Prince Andrew
Prince William has been portrayed by royal commentators as taking a firmer public stance to distance himself from Prince Andrew as fresh scrutiny surrounds the Duke of York’s links to Jeffrey Epstein. The claims come as the Prince of Wales carries out overseas engagements while the wider Royal Family faces renewed questions about how it has responded to allegations involving Andrew.
Fox News reported that royal expert Ms Hilary Fordwich said Prince William, influenced by Princess Catherine, was prepared to challenge the “never complain, never explain” approach and clarify that the couple’s focus is “with the victims”, adding that he would not defend his uncle.
The report said a spokesperson for the Prince and Princess of Wales described them as “deeply concerned” by continuing revelations connected to Epstein, and that their thoughts remained focused on victims. It also cited commentary suggesting the couple’s brief statement avoided naming Andrew directly while signalling a tougher stance on reputational risk.
In recent days, the Waleses have faced questions during public appearances, including being confronted in Riyadh over the Royal Family’s Epstein response, as the controversy continues to intersect with official duties.
With Buckingham Palace also indicating it would support police if approached, the latest reporting underlines the pressure on senior royals to demonstrate accountability while keeping public work on track amid sustained attention on Andrew’s conduct.
