Prince Andrew will not return to royal duties, especially when Prince William becomes king, according to people close to the royal family. Prince William and Princess Kate see Andrew as a problem for the royal family’s image. William doesn’t want him doing public royal work because of Andrew’s past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, and Yang Tengbo, an alleged Chinese spy.
Yang Tengbo was banned from the UK after an MI5 investigation, which made things worse for Andrew. William now sees his uncle as a risk to the royal family, according to a report by The Times of London.
A source told The Sun that there is no chance Andrew will return to working with the royals, and William is firm about that decision.
Earlier this year, during Easter service at St. George’s Chapel, William reportedly kept his distance from Andrew. Andrew was also left out of the Garter Day event for the fourth year in a row and didn’t appear at the Trooping the Colour parade. His daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were also not involved.
These decisions show that both King Charles and Prince William want to keep Andrew away from public royal life. Andrew stepped back from his duties years ago after his close friendship with Epstein became public. Since then, the family has kept him at arm’s length.
Prince William has said he wants to lead the royal family in a new way. During a trip to South Africa for the Earthshot Prize Awards, he said he wants to be more modern, focus on helping people, and work with others as a team. He also said he’s putting more heart and care into how he leads.
