Prince William’s anger toward his uncle, Prince Andrew, was clear at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent, where Andrew was seated directly behind William and Princess Kate. Andrew has faced accusations of sexual abuse and long been kept out of public royal events.
William was also upset with his father, King Charles, for allowing Andrew to attend and sit so close. A friend told the Daily Beast that William felt “ambushed” and called the seating arrangement a “disgrace.” Photos showed William scowling, glaring at Andrew, or turning away as Charles chatted with him. Kate also appeared unhappy.
William has worked for years to avoid being photographed with Andrew and believes Charles is making a mistake by bringing him back into public view. He feels the same about Charles recently meeting Prince Harry, despite Harry’s harsh criticism of the royal family in his book Spare and his Netflix series.
Sources say William sees his father as “weak” for indulging Andrew and Harry and plans to change things when he becomes king, refusing to let either appear alongside senior royals.
Queen Elizabeth II’s firm control once kept such conflicts private, but since her death in 2022, family tensions are showing more openly. William now faces the challenge of staying calm as former U.S. president Donald Trump visits the U.K., a visit made more sensitive because of Trump’s past links to Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew.
Meanwhile, Queen Camilla missed the funeral due to sinus problems, and palace insiders only “hope” she will attend the state visit, prompting speculation she may avoid appearing alongside Trump.
