Prince William admits parenting challenge over children’s feelings
Prince William has spoken about a moment of parenting he finds “quite difficult”, describing the pressure he feels when his children open up about their emotions. The Prince of Wales discussed family life while taking part in a pre-recorded episode of BBC Radio 1’s Life Hacks focused on men’s mental health.
During the programme, Prince William said he sometimes feels a “sense you need to fix it for everyone” when Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis talk through their feelings, Express reported.
The Prince of Wales added that he has to remind himself that he does not need to solve every problem, but should listen and allow his children to be comfortable sharing how they feel. He also spoke about his own experiences of difficult moments, including his time working as an air ambulance pilot, and stressed the value of having a “toolbox” for mental wellbeing.
The appearance continues William’s emphasis on mental health initiatives and public conversations about emotional support, following earlier Britpop News coverage in which Prince William admitted his mental health “deteriorated” at points in his life and career.
William’s comments highlight how the Wales family aims to encourage openness at home while using their public platform to underline that asking for help, listening and speaking honestly about feelings are essential parts of wellbeing.
