Princess Beatrice ‘distraught’ amid Epstein file fallout
Princess Beatrice is facing renewed scrutiny after reports linked her parents to newly released U.S. Department of Justice files connected to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with an expert claiming the situation has added strain as speculation swirls about her marriage. The Duchess of York’s elder daughter, 37, has largely kept a low profile, but commentary around the York family has intensified in recent weeks.
Fox News reported that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Ms Sarah Ferguson were named in files released on 30 January as part of the Epstein investigation, noting that neither has been charged and that being named does not indicate wrongdoing.
Royal expert Mr Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that Beatrice was “under a lot of pressure” as she tries to support her father while not “annoying” other members of the Royal Family, including Prince William. British broadcaster Ms Helena Chard also claimed Beatrice was “deeply worried and distraught”, while People magazine was cited as quoting a source close to Beatrice and her husband Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi describing rumours of marital problems as “complete nonsense”.
The report said the Mail on Sunday had suggested there was “distance” between Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi amid ongoing scandals surrounding her parents, while sources quoted in that coverage pointed to his work travel and business commitments. The spotlight on the York sisters has also overlapped with earlier Britpop News reporting on Princess Catherine reportedly keeping her distance from the York sisters as the wider family navigates reputational pressures.
Fox News said Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi were photographed together at a London birthday party on 20 March, while commentators argued the Royal Family may be keen to contain negative stories as major public engagements approach.
