Prince Andrew can finally relax after a long battle over his royal home, Royal Lodge. According to the Express, he has “won the Royal Lodge row” after years of refusing to move out.
King Charles had been trying to get Andrew to relocate to a smaller home, partly because Andrew is no longer a working royal and was relying on Charles for financial support. However, Andrew showed a lease that legally allows him to stay at Royal Lodge, which reportedly ended the dispute.
The two brothers have been at odds over the property located on the grounds of Windsor Castle since 2019. Andrew has lived there since 2004 with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
In late 2023, Andrew managed to stay in the property after securing a mystery financial backer, just as Charles stopped paying for his $4 million-a-year security and other expenses. Charles even removed valuable items from the house over concerns about its upkeep and security.
Charles had hoped to free up the 31-room mansion for Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children. But the future king and queen later decided the home didn’t suit their needs, much to Andrew’s relief. William and Kate are now searching for a new family home to move out of Adelaide Cottage.
Despite winning the housing battle, Andrew continues to face pressure from the UK government to reveal who is funding his lifestyle, as his only known income is a pension from his time in the Royal Navy.
