Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson has become warmly accepted by King Charles III and other top members of the royal family, which has reportedly made her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, very upset, according to a source who spoke to the Examiner.
Insiders say the Duke of York, 65, has demanded that Fergie give him her full loyalty and put him ahead of his family members, even though they have welcomed her back with open arms.
People inside the royal family see Fergie as a breath of fresh air, exactly what they need right now because of her courage, kindness, and positive outlook. The source shared that even when Fergie was going through hard times herself, she always checked in on others and offered to help however she could.
Fergie, 65, faced major health challenges recently. In January 2024, she was diagnosed with skin cancer, just months after fighting breast cancer. She admitted she was in “shock” over learning she had malignant melanoma but stayed in good spirits.
Meanwhile, King Charles III, 76, has also been battling cancer, which he announced publicly in February 2024. A month later, Princess Kate revealed her own cancer diagnosis. Thankfully, Kate, 43, later confirmed she is in remission.
In recent months, the source said Queen Camilla has become very fond of Fergie, and so have Prince William and Kate. They want Fergie to take a more visible role at events and have encouraged Charles to pay extra attention to her when appropriate. But the source pointed out that the “elephant in the room is Andrew.”
Fergie and Andrew divorced in 1992 after six years of marriage but remain close and still live together at Windsor. They got married in 1986, becoming the Duke and Duchess of York, and have two daughters: Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 35.
According to the source, Andrew is upset that while Fergie is being warmly welcomed, the royal family still treats him with thinly disguised contempt. The source added that Andrew told Fergie they need to stick together as a team, which puts her in a tough spot.
