Friend claims Prince Andrew blames King Charles and Prince William for his “unfair” treatment
A friend of Prince Andrew has claimed the Duke of York is “fuming” with King Charles and Prince William as he attempts to clear his name after being questioned by police. The allegation comes as Prince Andrew’s future living arrangements and standing within the Royal Family continue to draw scrutiny.
In a column referenced by the Daily Mirror, royal commentator Mr Richard Eden wrote that the friend said Prince Andrew believes he has been treated “unfairly — even brutally” and that he blames the King, while also directing anger towards Prince William.
The report said Prince Andrew was taken into police custody earlier this month for questioning on suspicion of misconduct in public office before being released pending further investigation. It added that, despite claims King Charles continues to support his brother financially and has offered him use of a five-bedroom property called Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, the Duke is said to feel let down.
The friend also suggested Prince Andrew has struggled with the prospect of leaving Royal Lodge, which the report described as his long-time home, and contrasted his situation with other royal residences used by the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh. The latest claims follow Britpop News reporting on fresh scrutiny around Prince Andrew developments in the wake of recent headlines.
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the remarks attributed to the friend, and there has been no announcement of any formal change to Prince Andrew’s status. The situation is likely to remain sensitive as the police investigation continues and the wider family manages the constitutional and reputational implications.
