Lip Reader Claims Andrew Pleaded With William
Prince Andrew was seen in a tense exchange with Prince William outside the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, with a forensic lip reader claiming the Duke of York asked his nephew for forgiveness during the gathering at Westminster Cathedral in September.
Forensic lip reader Ms Nicola Hickling told a Channel 5 programme that the Duke appeared to say, “I’ve learnt from what I’ve done, but before I forget, and if I can, I’d like to ask you if you can forgive?”, The Sun reported.
According to the account, Prince Andrew first greeted Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, saying: “Good afternoon William and Catherine, how are you?”, with Catherine responding, “Good, thank you”, before Prince William asked: “What can I do for you?”. The lip-reading claim suggests the future King did not reply to the alleged request for forgiveness.
The interaction has added to scrutiny around Prince Andrew’s standing within the family, following previous reporting that Prince William was said to have “held a grudge” over a perceived snub involving Andrew.
The funeral was among the Duke’s last high-profile appearances with senior royals before further headlines about his links to Mr Jeffrey Epstein, with the latest claims emerging as broadcasters and commentators continue to examine royal body language and private conversations captured on public occasions.
