A past Truth Social post by President Donald Trump about Taylor Swift has resurfaced online after he was loudly booed at Sunday’s Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions NFL game. Trump attended the game with House Speaker Mike Johnson, becoming the first sitting president in nearly fifty years to attend a regular-season NFL matchup. When Trump appeared on the stadium videoboard, many in the crowd booed, including during a halftime military oath ceremony.
This moment led people online to revisit Trump’s previous comments about Taylor Swift. In February, during Super Bowl LIX, Swift was shown on the stadium screen while attending the game to support her partner, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. Eagles fans booed, and Trump reacted to the moment by posting on Truth Social that Swift was “booed out of the stadium” and said “MAGA is very unforgiving.”
However, reports at the time from NBC News and the Associated Press suggested that the boos were mainly due to football rivalry, not politics, since the crowd was largely Eagles fans. Swift reportedly brushed off the boos and laughed.
The resurfaced clip and post have now sparked new debate on social media, especially with Trump being booed himself. Newsweek has reached out to Trump’s representatives for comment.
