President Donald Trump confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs has asked for a presidential pardon related to his federal criminal case. While talking with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Monday about the possibility of pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, Trump said that many people have asked him for pardons , including Combs, who was sentenced last week to over four years in prison for two counts of transporting people for prostitution.
In August, Combs’ lawyer Nicole Westmoreland told CNN that his legal team had reached out to Trump’s administration to discuss a possible pardon. However, Trump had earlier said in a Newsmax interview that he was unlikely to pardon Combs, noting that while they got along in the past, Combs had been “very hostile” toward him once Trump ran for office.
When CNN asked the White House about the matter in August, officials declined to say whether a clemency request had been made.
On Monday, Combs’ lawyers also asked the judge to recommend that he serve his sentence at a low-security federal prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he could get help for drug issues and have more opportunities for family visits and rehabilitation.
