Oasis star Noel Gallagher recently issued a plea to Amazon MGM Studios as plans are drawn up for the next James Bond movie via Deadline.
Gallagher told TalkSport radio that the band would be “honored” to write the theme song for Bond 26, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and penned by Steven Knight.
He was asked about OO7 after a report in The Sun newspaper claimed that Oasis are top of Amazon MGM Studios’ wishlist for the next film. After being asked about the report, Gallagher snubbed the reports.
Presenter Andy Goldstein asked: “If Barbara Broccoli phoned you up and said, ‘Can you do it?’ What would you do?” Gallagher then joked and responded.
Michael G. Wilson and Broccoli relinquished control of the Bond franchise in a $1 billion deal with Jeff Bezos’ studio last year. Gallagher said it would be an honor but believes such tributes should be done by British artists, adding that Oasis has not been approached about it.
Gallagher continued: “Of course, it would be an absolute honor. I think those kinds of things should be done by Brits and not Yanks.” Asked if Oasis had been approached, he added: “No, no, no.”
Gallagher has revealed in the past that he has written Bond songs, while his brother Liam fuelled the rumors last month by suggesting the band had something prepared.
The last actor to play James Bond in the franchise was Daniel Craig. However, he departed the series following the release of his fifth film No Time to Die in 2021.
Callum Turner has also been rumored to take on the role of James Bond, and in December 2023, claimed he’d had no meetings about playing the famed spy, but praised “amazing producer” Broccoli.
Other actors whose names have surfaced for the role are Euphoria and Saltburn star Jacob Elordi and Bullet Train actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
