Miley Cyrus recently talked about a tough time in her life during an episode of the Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky podcast on June 10. The 32-year-old singer looked back on the year 2013, when she released her Bangerz album, which included the hit song “Wrecking Ball.”
That year, Miley got a lot of attention and criticism for her wild image. She was in the spotlight for her “Wrecking Ball” music video, where she swung on a wrecking ball without clothes, and for her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she twerked on stage with Robin Thicke while wearing a nude outfit.
Miley said that time was really hard for her and embarrassing. It even affected her family. She said some of her siblings were so embarrassed by her actions that they didn’t want to go to school. One of her brothers told her it was hard being her sibling because of all the attention she was getting.
She admitted she was a difficult sibling to grow up with and said her fame made things harder for her family. Miley has five siblings: Brandi, Trace, Christopher, Braison, and Noah.
Miley also shared that her personal life suffered because of the choices she made in her career. She said many of her relationships ended because people didn’t like that she was so open and expressive about her sexuality. Some of the men she dated wanted her to keep that side of herself private, but she was sharing it with the world. She even found it hard to face her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, during that time because she felt embarrassed.
