Mel B is speaking out about the Spice Girls and her frustration with her former bandmates. The 49-year-old pop star revealed that she was removed from their group chat because she often shares her thoughts about wanting to go on tour again, calling her bandmates “d–kheads” for not wanting to reunite.
In an upcoming episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, airing on Sky Max this Wednesday, Mel explained that her straightforward Northern attitude led to her being kicked out of the WhatsApp group.
“Because I’m Northern and say what I think and feel,” she admitted. “And I’m constantly saying to the girls, ‘We need to go back on tour.’ Because they’re d–kheads.”
The Spice Girls, which included Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham, became a huge success in the late 1990s after forming through an open audition in 1994. Originally called Touch, the group changed their name and rose to pop stardom.
They had many No. 1 hits and two successful albums, becoming the best-selling girl group in the world. However, when Geri Halliwell left the group in 1998, it shocked fans, and they released their last album in 2000 before disbanding.
The Spice Girls reunited for a world tour in 2007 and performed at the 2012 London Olympics. They also appeared together at the premiere of the West End musical Viva Forever. However, during their 2019 stadium tour, Victoria Beckham chose not to join them.
