Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing fresh criticism from someone who used to know them well. British TV presenter Lizzie Cundy, a former friend of Meghan’s, recently spoke out against the couple’s decision to step away from royal life.
Cundy, who met Meghan in 2013, says the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave up an incredible opportunity. “They whinge, they moan, they criticize and they are not very grateful. They had it all,” she told GB News.
She also said the couple were “complete failures” who “really blew it” by leaving their royal duties behind. This latest comment came after they were absent from this year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony, a major royal event they were not invited to attend.
Cundy didn’t hold back when speaking about their current lifestyle in the U.S. “The only thing they are good at is spending money,” she said. “Watching Trooping the Colour today, I get the sense they really missed out.”
The former friend also opened up about how their friendship ended. She claimed that Meghan stopped speaking to her after meeting Prince Harry in 2016. “I was a dating service for Meghan Markle and she ghosted me,” said Cundy, who believes Meghan cut off ties once her relationship with Harry got serious.
The royal couple has been left out of royal celebrations for three years now. Their last major appearance was during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, where they had to watch the royal parade from a different balcony with other non-working royals. Since Queen Elizabeth’s death and King Charles III’s rise to the throne, the rift between Harry and the rest of the royal family seems to have only grown wider.
Meanwhile, this year’s Trooping the Colour marked a significant moment for King Charles. Despite his ongoing cancer treatment, the monarch made a public appearance, standing tall in front of the British public alongside Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children.
