Tim Dillon Takes Aim at Meghan Markle Brand
Comedian Mr Tim Dillon has mocked Meghan Markle’s post-royal attempts to build a lifestyle brand, suggesting her strategy has not landed with American audiences and predicting she may pivot to television. The comments were made during a podcast discussion released on Thursday, 10 April, as the Duchess of Sussex remains a frequent subject of debate around her career direction since stepping back from royal duties.
On the “Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade” podcast, Fox News reported that Mr Dillon said Meghan Markle had “failed at the Martha Stewart route” and claimed she “was slinging jam in Target” while trying to build a lifestyle brand.
According to the report, Mr Dillon also criticised the tone he perceived in Meghan Markle’s Netflix work, arguing viewers were “a little turned off” by what he described as a condescending approach. The segment included jokes about her decision to lean into the lifestyle market, while fellow comedian Mr David Spade quipped that jam was “an interesting choice” given the existing brands in the space.
The remarks come amid ongoing scrutiny of the Duchess’s entertainment projects, following questions raised around Meghan Markle’s Netflix setback and what it could mean next as she weighs future opportunities in the US media landscape.
While the exchange was framed as comedy, it underlines how closely Meghan Markle’s brand-building is being watched, with her next move likely to draw further reaction across both entertainment and royal coverage.
