Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue to focus on online safety and healthy technology use, especially for children. This week, they made a surprise virtual appearance at a book launch event hosted by Gayle King. The event supported a new book called The Amazing Generation by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price, which looks at the risks of too much screen time and encourages kids to enjoy real-world activities.
During the discussion, Harry spoke about how digital spaces can affect mental, emotional, and physical health. He praised the authors for starting an important movement that helps parents better understand these issues. Meghan also shared her support and said she was proud to be involved.
“Over the years, we’ve worked with how the digital spaces [are] deeply affecting our collective and mental, emotional and physical health,” Harry, 41, shared with the authors. “Obviously, a huge congratulations to you and the outcome of your research, which has created a parent-led movement, which is astonishing and much needed.”
The couple briefly talked about their own children, Archie and Lilibet. Meghan explained that encouraging kids to laugh, play, and stay present helps the whole family reconnect and reduces reliance on screens. Harry added that the research has helped them in their work with parents who have lost children due to online harms and in finding ways to keep kids safer.
Online safety has been one of their main causes through The Parents’ Network, part of Archewell. In recent years, the organization has supported families, raised awareness about social media risks, and created spaces for parents to share their experiences. Meghan and Harry have said that, as parents, protecting children online is an urgent responsibility and one that requires action, not silence.
