Royal biographer Tina Brown has criticized Meghan Markle for launching too many business projects at once, calling her approach “inadvisable” and “enormously shallow.” Meghan, 43, recently debuted several new ventures, including a Netflix show, a podcast, a beauty line, a lifestyle brand called As Ever, and a digital store.
On the Mixed Signals for Semafor Media podcast, Brown said Meghan often starts new things but doesn’t follow through. “It’s like, ‘I’m doing a cooking show! No wait—a podcast! Oh, and a beauty line!’” Brown said, suggesting Meghan seems anxious and lacks a clear plan.
Brown added that Meghan could be more successful if she focused on one thing at a time and did it well. She compared Meghan to figures like Beyoncé and Michelle Obama, saying Meghan wants similar status without the strong foundation they built over time.
Despite the criticism, Brown admitted Meghan isn’t bad at what she does. “She has a huge following. When she wears something, it sells out. So people clearly connect with her in some way,” she noted.
Still, Brown said many advisors have grown frustrated with Meghan, claiming she often ignores the good advice they give her. “She seems motivated in meetings, but then she does something totally different,” Brown explained.
Brown also said Meghan is Prince Harry’s main advisor—and he only listens to her. “That’s not a good combination,” she added.
