Sky News panel highlights YouGov slump for Meghan Markle as favourability hits 19%
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been discussed on Sky News after new YouGov polling showed a sharp contrast between the popularity of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the standing of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The figures were aired during a segment reviewing which royals are viewed most favourably by the British public.
Fresh YouGov polling put the Duchess of Sussex on 19% favourability and Prince Harry on 31%, while Prince William and Princess Catherine were described as polling in the mid-70s. Express reported that Sky News presenter Ms Gabriella Power introduced the numbers by saying the Waleses were the most popular royals and that Meghan Markle had plunged to an “all-time low”.
The report said UK barrister Mr Andrew Eborn attributed the couple’s standing to “negative publicity” and joked on air that the Duchess “won’t be pleased” with the rating. It also cited him describing William and Catherine as the monarch’s “golden jewel”, while noting King Charles held around 60% approval and Princess Anne about 70%.
The polling discussion comes amid continued attention on the Sussexes’ UK ties, including coverage of Meghan Markle’s reported reaction to Prince Harry’s UK return as timelines for future visits are debated.
The YouGov tracker data, as presented in the segment, underlines the ongoing public divide in attitudes toward senior royals and the Sussexes, with presenters and commentators framing the figures as a significant low point for the Duchess’s popularity in Britain.
