Meghan Markle had to give refunds to upset customers after her website messed up orders again, this time with her $14 apricot spread. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, promised free replacement jars to her loyal buyers. This comes just weeks after a similar problem happened with her $28 honey.
A message from Meghan said:
“Because of high demand, we can’t ship your apricot spread order right now. We’ll refund you by the end of the week.”
Her lifestyle brand also told customers they’d be first in line to get the spread for free when it’s back in stock.
The apricot spread, which Meghan showed on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, became very popular and sold out in under an hour. It usually sells for $9, or $14 with a special keepsake package.
Some shoppers were unhappy after placing their orders only to see a 404 error message. One person on X (Twitter) wrote,
“Just got an email saying they can’t send my apricot spread but will give me a refund and a free jar later. I only have half a jar of raspberry left. It’s war tomorrow!”
Another customer posted,
“I hope they fix this. At the very least, they should’ve told us right away instead of making us wait and be disappointed. Not great customer experience, even if the service is nice afterward.”
But others praised how Meghan’s team handled it.
“A refund plus a free product when it’s back? That’s top-tier customer service 💯,” one person wrote. Another added, “I don’t even want my refund, I just want Meghan to know she’s so loved!”
The apricot spread is made by The Republic of Tea, a company based in California with its factory in Illinois. They also make Meghan’s expensive orange blossom honey.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s brand As Ever recently launched new products, including her much-anticipated Rosé wine. The 2023 Napa Valley Rosé went on sale with three bottles for $90, six for $159, or 12 for $300.
A spokesperson said this is just the start, with sparkling wine and other types coming soon. Meghan reportedly spent months working on the blend and tasting samples to get it right.
