Meghan Markle revealed on the May 6 episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast that she used an Ayurvedic doctor during her pregnancies with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Meghan, who shares the two children with Prince Harry, explained that her approach to wellness during pregnancy focused on seeing food as medicine, a key concept in Ayurveda, a traditional Indian system of medicine that takes a natural and holistic view of health.
In her conversation with guest Hannah Mendoza, founder of Clevr Blends (a plant-based latte and tea brand Meghan has invested in), Meghan also discussed public perceptions of ingredients like mushrooms and adaptogens. She noted that while some people view them as “hippie” or “woo woo,” they’re part of a growing food trend focused on wellness. She compared it to how quinoa was once unfamiliar to many but is now mainstream.
Meghan said she first discovered Clevr while pregnant with Lilibet, when a friend gifted her a basket that included the brand’s turmeric latte. Curious, she looked up the company and became its first investor, calling it an “organic” experience, pun intended. Meghan shared that she wasn’t looking for a business pitch and joked to Mendoza that it wasn’t Shark Tank, but “Dolphin Tank”, meaning a much friendlier space.
