Madonna has spoken out again against what she sees as unfair treatment of LGBTQ+ people, especially the transgender community, by the Trump administration. In a heartfelt Instagram story on Friday (March 7), she said it “breaks my heart” to see trans people being treated badly by the government.
“How can we know what it feels like? Have we walked in their shoes?” Madonna asked, urging people to be more understanding. She also criticized what she called a growing “mob mentality” in the country, where people seem to enjoy watching others being silenced or pushed aside.
The Vogue singer said it is wrong for people to take pleasure in someone else’s pain. “Instead of tearing people down, we should spend more time helping and supporting each other,” she said.
Madonna’s comments come after President Trump made a false claim during his March 4 speech to Congress. He said that the previous Democratic government spent millions of dollars trying to make “transgender mice.” However, fact-checkers, including CNN, proved this was not true. The funding actually went toward studying how hormones affect health conditions like asthma—it had nothing to do with changing the gender of mice.
This isn’t the first time Madonna has criticized Trump’s policies. In January, she posted on social media, saying it was “sad” to see LGBTQ+ rights being taken away. She also encouraged people to keep fighting for their rights, saying, “Don’t give up the fight.”
Madonna has always been a strong supporter of LGBTQ+ rights. She continues to speak out against policies she believes are unfair and encourages others to stand up for equality.
