King Charles Cancels State Visit Lunch
King Charles and Queen Camilla have made a last-minute change to the programme for the Nigerian president’s state visit, with a traditional element of the day removed as the royal family hosts official events at Windsor.
The altered schedule means there will be no welcome lunch because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Muslim and is fasting for Ramadan, Hello Magazine reported.
Prince William and Catherine, the Princess of Wales, led the morning welcome, greeting President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at the Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel before joining King Charles and Queen Camilla for a ceremonial carriage procession to Windsor Castle. Instead of hosting the usual lunch, the King is due to receive the president for an afternoon audience, with the programme adapted around the Ramadan fast.
