Kevin Federline has continued to share more light on his divorce from pop icon Britney Spears via PEOPLE.
Federline is set to release his new memoir, You Thought You Knew, on October 21st, and revealed more information about the former couple’s relationship, co-parenting and divorce.
The couple had tied the knot in September 2004, and Spears filed for divorce in November 2006. During their marriage, they welcomed two sons: Sean Preston, and Jayden James.
In the memoir, Federline claimed that he was awarded $20,000 per month in child support for their two sons. He claimed that he was also awarded another $20,000 per month in alimony for half the duration of their 26-month marriage. While Federline doesn’t reveal exactly how much he received in total from his divorce to Spears, it was alleged to be in the $1-1.3 million range, per Page Six.
Federline wrote in his book that he signed a “pretty standard” prenup with Spears. He said that he didn’t think they needed a prenup, because he “wasn’t some bum just sitting around waiting for a check.” Adding that before their marriage, he “was out there hustling, grinding, investing [and] working.”
Federline went on to add the following about his divorce settlement with Spears, “People hear figures like that and think you’re financially set. But the reality is far from that. Explaining that his various expenses to raise two kids in Los Angeles — rent, transportation, security, childcare — didn’t allow the money to “stretch as far as you’d think.”
He elaborated on the costs of raising his two sons, writing, “Raising two young boys in Los Angeles, while maintaining the security and stability they needed, came with a price tag that would make anyone’s head spin.”
